Mark "Mile High" Hylton - UK Darts Player

May I take a little of your time to introduce myself. I am Mark Hylton and I live in Rugeley, Staffordshire. I am employed as an airline cabin manager and currently in full time employment.

Since 1993 I have been and still am a Staffordshire county player. I have enjoyed great success at a local level whilst playing for them and try to enter as many high profile tournaments as possible. In the last couple of years I have been a county champion in the Winmau World Masters and also county champion in B.D.O. competitions such as the English National Singles and World Championships, however I have also competed within the P.D.C. arena. My last venture here was in the U.K. Open world finals at Bolton`s Reebok stadium in June 2007. This was televised by Sky sports. I enjoyed a first round victory over the American number one player Ray Carver which was screened live. This gave me recognition and also the confidence in my abilities to strive for more success.

In 2005 darts became a recognised and registered sport by the sports councils of Great Britain and with this recognition came increased involvement by major companies. Prize funding increased dramatically and at the present time it is well over the one million pounds mark in the U.K. alone.

The opportunities for ambitious players to take the step and become a semi or full time professional have never been so attractive, however to realise this ambition it is necessary to obtain funding. The costs involved in competing on the professional circuit are substantial with entry fees, hotel and travel expenses all to be covered.

Of course the returns can be rewarding. For the player the satisfaction of climbing the rankings ladder, gaining a place in the elite top thirty two and making automatic qualification into the major televised events, is the main goal. For the sponsor, the company name on the shirt and the television media exposure that any success may bring, is also very rewarding.

I advertise in anticipation, to any individual or company, that may feel able to offer assistance in my goal to become a professional player. I appreciate your thoughts and would only be too pleased to make myself available for a personal interview at your convenience. A promotional D.V.D of my T.V. performance in the U.K. Open is available if required.

Yours,
Mark "Mile High" Hylton.
